Moku O Keawe International Hula Festival

ʻAnoʻai ke aloha!

The Moku of Keawe is the center of the Pacific Ocean. Our sacred mountains are home to the deities of hula. We honor the deities and the mountains through hula and chant.

The epic story of Pele and Hiʻiaka is a source of immense knowledge! The lines of the chants speak of vulcanism and its many forms. Ritual and protocol are described in detail. Weather and atmospheric conditions are outlined. The geography and place names are given specific attention.

Our festival, slated for November 8 - 10, 2019, will take place at the Marriott Hotel at ʻAnaehoʻomalu, Waikoloa. From keiki to kupuna hula competition, crafts at the Marketplace, workshops in hula and craft, the festival is centered around the culture of our island.

Join us as we celebrate our history and heritage through hula! The Moku O Keawe International Hula Festival was founded on the practice of hula and the many cultural connections of Hawaiʻi. Let us live through the dance!

E ola!
